Have “50 Shades” fans gone too far?

According to an article posted on Cafemom, a website that focuses on parenting issues, the erotic trilogy “50 Shades of Grey” has made such an impact on America that even babies are sporting Christian Grey inspired onesies.

And as an FYI to the readers who are still unaware or decisively blind to the novels’ success, the first installment of E.L. James’ trilogy was published in 2011, and since then has reportedly become one of the fastest-selling paperbacks of all time.

E.L. James originally self-publishedFifty Shades of Grey” as an eBook and a print-on-demand. Then in March 2012, Vintage Books, a division of Random House, took over the publishing rights.

Since its release, “50 Shades” has been translated into 52 languages worldwide and has sold more than 90 million copies, according to E! Online.

Instead of being embarrassed, women are flaunting their once secret reading habits on the front of their toddlers’ chests with sayings that read, “9 months ago, my mom read 50 Shades of Grey,” and “All mommy wanted was a night with Mr. Grey.”

Some sources are even admitting that birth rates are increasing due to the trilogy’s publication. According to an article found on SFGate, the CEO of a Canadian hospital in Windsor, Ont. said that the 30 percent increase in birth rates at his hospital were more than likely linked to “50 Shades.”

With the official trailer now up-and-running for the world to see, who knows what else will come of this “50 Shades” phenomena. CBS News reports “50 Shades” is the most-viewed trailer of 2014.
