Hauser Estate Winery has “souper” weekends this month

While many people are preparing for the Super Bowl, others are preparing to heat up with a nice, hearty bowl of soup at Hauser Estate Winery. Every Saturday and Sunday this month, Hauser is celebrating their Soup Month—an event that was so popular last year, it's back for an encore!

Each weekend, Hauser will feature two soup options, paired with a choice of their own signature wines or one of Jack's hard ciders. Soups are priced at just $5 a bowl, and $4 for VIP members.

This weekend, Hauser is featuring the two options: Ham and Bean and Creamy Onion. Drink recommendations for Ham and Bean include Jack's Hard Cider or Abe's Apple. Creamy Onion goes well with Chardonnay 2011. For the Feb. 9 and 10 weekend, Hauser will present Beefy Vegetable and Curried Pumpkin. Suggested drink pairings for the Beefy Vegetable include 2010 Merlot, Cabernet Franc or 2010 Meritage. Hauser recommends a nice glass of Jennie Wade to accompany their Curried Pumpkin selection. Feb. 16 and 17 will offer up selections of Chicken Corn Soup and Gingered Carrot. A 2011Chardonnay makes a good pairing with Chicken Corn Soup, and Jack's Hard Cider: Helen's Blend goes will with Gingered Carrot. Feb. 24 and 25 marks the last weekend of the month with a send off featuring Creamy Bacon Potato and Corn Chowder. Try a Jennie Wade White or Devil's Den Red to go with Creamy Bacon Potato. A glass of 2011 Chardonnay goes great with Corn Chowder.

Hauser Estate Winery is a nice place to visit, year-round. Special events are always going on, and the site itself makes for a wonderful alternative agri-toursm venture in historic Gettysburg. Once exclusively an acreage of apples, the fertile farmland surrounding the estate now yields bounties of

grape vineyards. There is even an underground winery production facility beneath a 360 degree glass enclosed tasting room that was opened to the public in 2008. In addition, Hauser Estate Winery has also opened an ancillary shop in Lincoln Square adjoining the store Gettysburg 17 On the Square. Hauser's most recent expansion took place in 2011 when a store in Dillsburg was opened along Route 15. Hauser Estate Winery's vineyard and tasting room is located at 410 Cashtown Road, Biglerville, PA 17307.
