Ghosts, spirits, poltergeists, or demons; there are many different types of spirit activity. Most people are unaware of their presence, but for the lucky individual who is sensitive to the paranormal, the experience can be either quite frightening, or it can be the complete opposite. Spirits, like living folk, can be sad or happy. They like to play games, visit those that they love, and watch over their loved ones. They also enjoy making the living miserable if that is what they were like when they were alive. Their personality does not change just because they are deceased. Some spirits are tricksters. They take great pleasure in playing tricks on those that they are haunting. These are the ones that will take car keys and place them somewhere unusual so that the search for them becomes maddening. So what is a haunted person to do when they come to the realization that they are living with a ghost? There are two different ways to handle the situation. If there are children living in the home, asking or telling the ghost to leave is a very good idea. Some spirits are unaware that they are earthbound and deceased. These entities need to be told to go into the light. Some of them, however, are afraid to go, because they are unsure as to where they are going to end up. If it is possible, have the home blessed by a member of the clergy. The ghosts do not need to be roommates of the living. The blessing should clear the home of any activity. If there are no children in the home and the haunted person is so inclined, try to investigate the haunting activity. Document any incidents with spirit through photographs, EVP sessions, and note taking. It is very important to remember to never provoke a ghost. They will respond negatively just as a living person would if being harassed. Most of the time, spirits really do not want to be bothered. One very important thing to remember is to never try to contact spirit by using a Ouija board. That can open up a doorway to the other side that cannot be closed. Additionally, using a Ouija board to contact loved ones may actually connect one to something dark and sinister. That can become a dangerous situation.
