Haunted Trails and Tales on Mare Island reveals a spooky bunker

Haunted Trails and Tales concluded today at the Mare Island Preserve. The weekend event featured hiking tours on Saturday and Sunday along with Halloween themed activities. One of the main features of the Haunted Trails and Tales event included the inside of a small arms storage bunker which was built during the early 1900’s. There have been tales of ghosts on Mare Island Naval Shipyard, so on Saturday night a tour member brought along a K2 meter and made a shocking discovery in the small arms bunker.

Myrna Hayes led the tour on Saturday evening: “I’m not one to believe in the paranormal, but the K2 meter showed activity inside the bunker.”  The ghost seeker had brought a K2 meter on the tour in the hopes of finding a ghost. A K2 meter, also known as an EMC meter, measures electromagnetic fields. The device is used in popular ghost hunting television shows such as “Ghost Hunters” on the SyFy Channel and is said to show the presence of paranormal activity since it is believed that ghosts affect the electromagnetic fields in a room or area when they are present.

While the interactions with the ghosts in the small arms bunker could not be specifically identified, there was no doubt in the minds of the ghost seekers on the tour that there was something in the bunker; or someone who wanted his or her presence to be known.
