Are you looking for a new way to enjoy the fall? With October upon us, many people are thinking of Halloween, spooks and scares. Haunted attractions are popping up all over the place. But perhaps you are interested in a little more of a low key way to enjoy the spirit of October. Just take the 45 minute trip over the mountain from Johnstown to Schellsburg in Bedford County.
Shawnee State Park is presenting its second Haunted Paddle of the year on Friday, October 4 beginning at 7:30 p.m. During the paddle, you will enjoy a relaxing paddle around the lake where you will several stops for some stories of the paranormal. Will you be able to tell which ones are true and which ones are totally made up? This paddle will begin at the Regional Headquarters next to the big white barn along the main park road.
All equipment will be provided including kayak, paddles, PFD, and headlamp. For those that have never paddled before, there will be a brief lesson to begin the program. This program is for participants 8 and older. Anyone under 12 must ride in a tandem kayak with a responsible adult. Registration is required and can be done by calling (814)733-2203. Leave your name, a contact number and the number of registrants. If you need a tandem, please include that information.
