On July 28, Disney announced Magic Kingdom will open a gift shop focused on Haunted Mansion items. The merchandise shop will be located in Liberty Square, home to Walt Disney World Resort’s version of the attraction.

According to the Disney Parks Blog, Haunted Mansion’s own Madame Leota will inspire the new Magic Kingdom merchandise shop. The store will carry a range of items, including apparel, home goods, and souvenirs.

Magic Kingdom’s newly themed store will be located in the location where Yankee Trader gift shop operated. The now-closed Yankee Trader specialized in Disney kitchenware and other household items. It also sold some food items, such as jams and jellies. Yankee Trader had been in operation since 1971, originally operating as the Market House.

Yankee Trader closed without fanfare on July 27. The Haunted Mansion gift shop will open in its place some time this fall, although the specific opening date was not released.

News of the gift shop followed a preview featuring some of the Haunted Mansion merchandise that is slated for fall release. Disney Parks will release approximately 100 new pieces: clothing, accessories, artwork, pins and collectibles. Some items feature the attraction’s characters – including the Hitchhiking Ghosts, Master Gracey and the Hatbox Ghost – and many draw design elements from its distinctive look.

These items will be available at select locations at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and at Disneyland Resort in California. Some items will also be available at the Disney Store online.

Haunted Mansion is one of Disney’s most popular attractions. Versions of the Omnimover dark ride exist at all Disney resorts, and Magic Kingdom’s version has been in operation since 1971. Haunted Mansion also enjoys a strong, dedicated fan base and a considerable demand for merchandise related to the attraction. The Magic Kingdom gift shop and new line of merchandise is one response to to this demand.

In addition to the above merchandise, Disneyland Park will celebrate its upcoming 45th anniversary of the Haunted Mansion with limited edition pieces of art, sculptures, figurines and other items. The “Art of the Haunted Mansion” event takes place Aug. 16 at Disneyana on Main Street, U.S.A. of the Anaheim, California theme park.
