Haunted location: Gettysburg Hotel, Pennsylvania

Of course you have heard about the many things that go bump in the night throughout the town of Gettysburg. Home of the bloodiest Civil War battle, Gettysburg is a prime location to visit when hunting ghosts. The Gettysburg Hotel offers you accommodations while seeking the paranormal, while staying in one of the most haunted hotels in America.

The Gettysburg Hotel was established in 1797 and is only one quarter mile from the battlefield. There are stories of one occupant who refuses to leave the hotel. Rachel, a civil war nurse who lived in the hotel, has been seen roaming the halls. She has also bee seen in many of the hotel’s 119 rooms.

Employees of the hotel have reported seeing their carts move and dining trays float in the air. Other employee reports include those of temperature drips and feeling as if someone has just passed through them.

Guests have reported clothes missing from their rooms and drawers left open. It is believed that she may be rummaging through these drawers for medical supplies. Though Rachel prefers to stay inside the comforts of the hotel, guests have seen her running up and down the street just outside of it.

Another, unnamed female has been reported to be dancing in the hotel’s ballroom dressed in period attire.

Having stayed in this hotel a few times in the past, I can truly say there is something paranormal about it. Though I did not personally experience any of these types of encounters at the Gettysburg Hotel, I had other experiences throughout the town. So I am sure, the Gettysburg Hotel is home to a few, if not more paranormal guests.
