DAY 14
Unfortunately today was one of those days that just did not go as planned. I awoke with a raging headache. I get severe headaches on occassion and it is quite inexplicable. They just come on for no particular reason. They can last for a few hours or a few days. This was just one of those days. I was able to do some pranayama and meditation, but no asana practice. I sipped some herbal tea and spent most of the morning resting.
I actually went out for lunch (much easier than cooking) and had falafal on a whole wheat pita with lettuce, bean sprouts, cucumber, bell peppers and sun dried tomato dressing along with whole grain chips on the side. Once outside I was feeling a bit better and spent a good part of the afternoon working on my flower beds and planting some vegetables and other plants in my garden. After that I felt a bit better, but still not quite my usual self. I still managed to find an opportunity to lend a listening ear to a friend in need. It gave me a chance to practice some good "karma", and helped take my mind off my own headache for a time. Then I was able to get it together long enough to run to the store and pick up some homeopathic headache medicine, which was very beneficial. I used an over-the-counter product called "Head-On". It is a homeopathic topical remedy that you just rub right into the temples and forehead.
For dinner I made a coconut curry dish with potatoes, chickpeas, tomatoes, onions and garlic over long grain rice with cumin seeds along with Naan and some fresh raw veggies on the side. In the evening my family and I spent several hours working on a project putting together a swing for our back porch. Then we all went out for ice cream (I decided I really needed a treat - so I splurged and had dish of soft-serve). It was a late night, but I still ended the evening with more pranayama, meditation and jivamukti. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a bit more productive.
Om Shanti,
Tracey
