Parents of autistic children face challenges everyday of their lives. One of these challenges is dealing with others who are not educated on autistic behaviors. One woman has proven herself to not only be uneducated, but also a heartless person, after sending a hate letter to a grandmother about her grandson who lives with severe autism. As reported by Yahoo! News on August 19, 2013, the letter has gone viral on social networking sites.
Brenda Millson, cares for her 13-year-old grandson Max, at her home in Newcastle, Ont., on summer mornings. The letter was delivered on Friday afternoon and Millson told CityNews that she was shaking as she read the "awful words" that were typed about Max.
The unidentified woman who sent the hate letter did not hold back on any of her feelings about Max. She referred to him as an idiot, a wild animal, a nuisance, retarded and continually berated him in the letter.
"You selfishly put your kid outside everyday and let him be a nuisance and a problem to everyone else with that noise polluting whaling he constantly makes!!! That noise he makes when he is outside is DREADFUL!!!!!!!!!!! It scares the hell out of my normal children!!!!"
"Do the right thing and move or euthanize him!!! Either way we are ALL better off!!!"
The letter closed with "Sincerely, One pissed off mother!!!!!!"
Max's mom, Karla Begley did an interview with CityNews and say the police are aware of the incident. The Durham police have the original letter and are waiting to find out if there are grounds to press charges against the woman who wrote the letter.
The video featured in this article shows one of the many challenges that parents of autistic children deal with. The family is not tied to the Begley family.
