Hatchback flips off mountain road

A hatchback rally style car is passing through the mountains and flips! The vehicle is launched over the bridge railing and falls out of sight. In this setting, the back drop could be anything. Rally is known for racing down the most dangerous roads on the planet, and blistering speeds. Flying off a cliff is just a normal day's work in the world of rally. The crash cages are designed to take the plunge! The driver and navigator may come out hurt but chances are high they will both survive. The crash cages are joined into the chassis of the vehicle and provide a bubble of protection. Anything outside of that cage is usually toast.

So how far can a rally car with a crash cage drop before the forces exceed what a human being can take? They say that a human's are in the danger zone anywhere past 22 g's, but this isn't a definite answer. It depends upon the angle of the g force, it's applied position, and the body of the individual undergoing the extreme forces. Terminal velocity of a three thousand pound vehicle will be met in 66 meters, so it would roughly reach 345 mph. It's safe to say they will be severely injured if any speed above 70 mph is met. So it's safe to assume that  anything over a forty foot free fall will kill the occupants if all falling forces are perpendicular with the earth's terrain. If there is any angle, they will probably live because the majority of the energy will not be absorbed directly. Luckily, these guys where on a slope and lived to tell the tale.
