Is Elisabeth Hasselbeck leaving "The View"? That may be the case reports Us Weekly, March 8. The rumor is that the 35-year-old co-host, who joined the show in 2003, will not be returning, allegedly because viewers find her too conservative. "The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing," said a source. "People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed." However, a rep for the show said, "Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a valued member of 'The View' and has a long term contract."
If Hasselbeck is leaving "The View," some may consider that a shame. Most of the hosts on the show have been liberal in their political opinions. Hasselbeck's views allow the conservative side to be heard. The former "Survivor" cast member has gotten into heated debates with co-hosts Rosie O'Donnell, Barbara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg.
On the other hand, Joy Behar, 70, has announced that she is indeed leaving "The View." "You can't stay forever on a show," said Behar. "I am graciously exiting stage left. I've put in 16 1/2 years and felt the time was right. I want to explore other opportunities."
