Elisabeth Hasselbeck ‘s contract for the upcoming year on the View has not been renewed. Various reasons have been reported all over the internet for her dismissal. In recent seasons the show has become about talking over one another, and expressing their personal views of trending news of the day.
The personal relationships between the cast is evident when viewing the show. The hosts talk over each other instead of listening, and replying to the others’ comments. The voices become shriller and louder until it is impossible to hear what is being said besides noise. The tension and dislike is evident in the body posture of the hosts.
Instead of reporting on the news, or being objective on the topics being presented, their own views are presented. The arguing becomes personal, and they begin to attack each other. It has become painful to watch, and very disheartening to see such ugly behaviors become main stream. The more controversial the topic the more heated the discussion became.
It appears as if Ms. Hasselbeck’s has become a scape goat for the show becoming a shouting match. Ms. Hasslbeck was not the only host that engaged in those activities. One thing that is particularly interesting is that Ms. Hasslbeck’s political ideology did not match her behaviors.
She was reported to be a conservative. Conservative women would have considered her aggressiveness, and her willingness to argue her point as not correct behavior. Her behavior is much more that of a zealot in spite of her traditional views.
It makes a person wonder if her behavior was not encouraged by the show’s producers. Some coaching on being less passionate in her presentation of topics, and more control of her emotions might have saved her job. One would hope that the hosts that are left will learn from Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s dismissal and begin to treat each other with politeness.
