News of the impending divorce between Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas rocked the entertainment world and now rumors that it may be called off are having the same effect. According to an Oct. 27 report by TV Guide, Douglas told Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show” that he is “hopeful” things can still be worked out.
Douglas said of their 13-year marriage:
"I've been away for a while, but everything should hopefully be on the up and up. Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but it doesn't necessarily mean that's the end. So I'm very hopeful."
News of the demise of the marriage came in August as Douglas, 69, and Zeta-Jones, 44made their separation public. The couple, who wed in 2000, have two children ages 13 and 10.
When the separation was announced, rumors swirled but a source close to the couple said that Douglas’ battle with throat cancer – which later proved to be tongue cancer – and Zeta-Jones’ ongoing bipolar disorder put the marriage under tremendous strain.
We wish the couple the best as they weather this storm. Check back often for more celebrity news as it becomes available.
