There are so many obstacles in this country—particularly among lower economic households—to eating healthy foods and living a healthy lifestyle. From a lack of accurate information about healthy life choices to the expense of fresh produce and even basic access (many economically challenged neighborhoods in NYC do not have a nearby grocery store or greenmarket available). Harvest Home Farmer's Market, an NYC non-profit, aims to increase access and awareness, and on September 18 will be hosting its annual Savor the Season Uptown event.

Designed to raise funds for increased access to healthy foods and lifestyle awareness programs in underserved communities, the elegant farmer's market-inspired feat and gala features food and signature cocktails from local Harlem-area restaurants and bars, along with live music and raffle prizes.

Last year, the event attracted cast members from Gossip Girl along with chef Marcus Samuelsson and his team. In fact, with core support from the Marcus Samuelsson Group, the annual event highlights Harlem-area venues like Le Monde, Dinosaur BBQ, Billie's Black, Barawine, New Leaf Restaurant and Samuelsson's own Red Rooster providing food and drink to event-gowers.

The event, which takes place at the Museum of the City of New York, will also honor EmblemHeath, a mobile outreach group which engages New Yorkers with tools, tips and resources for healthier lifestyles and accessible health care. Proceeds from the event will go to support the development of Harvest Home's Educational Center, which coordinates wtih the organization's neighborhood markets to provide year-round health and wellness programs for NYC residents.

Savor The Season Uptown 2014 takes place on September 18 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Museum of the City of New York. General admission is $125. VIP admission is $250 and includes a private reception from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit
