After evacuating students halfway through their final exams from four buildings on Harvard campus on december 16, the threat is now unofficially called a hoax #harvardbomb #harvardbombthreat.
This disruption, according to rumors, caused by a student needing to buy time for his finals, comes at a great cost to the university and to students. Harvard police was deployed to secure the site and exams had to be cancelled right in the middle of finals period.
Perhaps more consequential, still, is the insecurity instilled by the threat, among students and locals who were slowly recovering from the psychological trauma of the Boston Marathon bombings in April 2013. Hopefully, the cancellations won't affect students too much for their Winter Break travel plans, especially those who were going to rejoin their family abroad.
