One Direction's Harry Styles, 18, had a busy New Year's Eve in New York City on December 21, 2012. According to various published reports, including the Daily Mail, Styles went to the Jay-Z/Coldplay concert at Barclays Center in Brooklyn before he rushed to Times Square in Manhattan, where Taylor Swift, 23, was performing on ABC's "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest."
Swift and Styles (nicknamed "Haylor" as a couple) went public with their romance in November 2012. When the clock struck midnight, the couple kissed passionately. They were surrounded by several onlookers, some who took photos of the Styles and Swift kissing. The couple then went back to their hotel in Manhattan.
Styles and Swift's plan to meet up in New York City for New Year's Eve was reported in advance.
As previously reported, after Styles spent Christmas in England with his family, he had an embarrassing moment when he went to Heathrow Airport in London for his trip to the U.S. to be with Swift: He forgot his passport at his mother's house, so he missed his flight and had to send a messenger to pick up the passport and deliver the it to him. He was then able to board a later flight.
Swift and Styles will be spending as much time together before they go on separate world tours in 2013.
One Direction will be flying by private jet on the tour. The jumbo jet has been named Air Force One Direction, according to the Daily Mirror.
Since coming in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010, One Direction has become the biggest global act to emerge from "The X Factor," by having No. 1 hits and sold-out tours in several countries. Many of their concerts have sold out in minutes and were put on sale a year in advance.
On January 1, 2013, Styles tweeted: "Happy New Year! To everyone who has supported us, We can never thank you enough. We know we can't do this without you. We love you all. It's 2013."
January 3, 2013 update: According to The Sun, Styles bought Swift a vintage bracelet as a New Year's gift. An unnamed source told The Sun: “Harry handpicked the present for Taylor while he was back home. He found it in a second-hand shop and she was impressed when he handed it to her. He gave it to her at the plush hotel they stayed in while they were celebrating New Year in New York. Harry is head over heels for Taylor and even admitted he loves her while they were in the Big Apple.”
