One Direction band members are fighting gay rumors once again. Thursday news erupted that Harry Styles plans to attend the Brit Awards dressed as a woman. Gay rumors resurfaced after the 1D band announced the launch of a new jewelry line. This week it seems that Harry Styles will do his best to fuel the fire with his cherubic smile and announcement that he is attending the Brit Awards in drag. Donning the dress of Geri Halliwell, who is best known as Ginger of the Spice Girls.
When gay rumors have erupted in the past, the One Direction boys have hit them head on and issued denials or ignored the rumors. The free spirited artistic nature of the band members have often been used to accuse the member of being gay. Websites are devoted to the subject, publishing quotes taken out of context and haphazard gifs that seemingly prove that the band members are gay. Louis Tomlinson worked hard to dispel the gay image, and denied reports last year and seemingly had succeeded at putting the rumors to rest.
Certainly dressing up one time for a publicity stunt for an awards show does not equate to cross dressing as a lifestyle. And, while most cross dressers are straight, many ignorant people are adding this planned action by Harry Styles to prove of gay orientation.
Harry Styles does know how to make headlines. Saturday reports revealed that Styles went on a date with ex-lover Caroline Flack, and that Harry paid for and delivered pizza to the homeless. Harry Styles spent almost $5K in pizza and spent a full day driving around delivering it to the homeless in Los Angeles. Dominoes Pizza thanked Harry for involving their company in such a "cool thing." How the paparazzi missed this generous act is a mystery to us.
