One Direction's Harry Styles, 18, and Grammy winner Taylor Swift, 23, spent the first week of January 2013 in the British Virgin Islands. On January 4, 2013, the Daily Mirror published photos of the two stars on their Caribbean getaway. Styles and Swift are posing with fans in the photos.
Swift and Styles (nicknamed "Haylor" as a couple) went public with their romance in November 2012. They have been seen on various dates in several locations around the world, including Los Angeles; New York City; Park City, Utah; London; Cheshire, England; Yorkshire, England; and now the British Virgin Islands.
As previously reported, Swift and Styles rang in 2013 in Times Square in New York City, where Swift was performing for ABC's "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest." When the clock struck midnight, the couple kissed passionately, as some onlookers took photos.
Styles and Swift's plan to meet up in New York City for New Year's Eve was reported in advance.
According to The Sun, Styles bought Swift a vintage bracelet as a New Year's gift. An unnamed source told The Sun: “Harry handpicked the present for Taylor while he was back home. He found it in a second-hand shop and she was impressed when he handed it to her. He gave it to her at the plush hotel they stayed in while they were celebrating New Year in New York. Harry is head over heels for Taylor and even admitted he loves her while they were in the Big Apple.”
As previously reported, after Styles spent Christmas in England with his family, he had an embarrassing moment when he went to Heathrow Airport in London for his trip to the U.S. to be with Swift: He forgot his passport at his mother's house, so he missed his flight and had to send a messenger to pick up the passport and deliver the it to him. He was then able to board a later flight.
Swift and Styles will be spending as much time together before they go on separate world tours in 2013.
One Direction's 2013 world tour begins February 23 in London, while Swift's 2013 world tour starts March 13 in Omaha, Nebraska.
One Direction will be flying by private jet on the tour, which has announced tour dates every month from February to October 2013. The jumbo jet has been named Air Force One Direction, according to the Daily Mirror.
Since coming in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010, One Direction has become the biggest global act to emerge from "The X Factor," by having No. 1 hits and sold-out tours in several countries. Many of their concerts have sold out in minutes and were put on sale a year in advance.
