Harry Styles and Niall Horan of "X Factor" U.K. boy band One Direction have reportedly made moves to "go Hollywood" by buying homes in the Los Angeles area. Styles, 18, and Horan, 19, will both remain based in London, but British tabloids reported on January 19 and January 20, 2013, that One Direction will be spending more time in Los Angeles in 2013 and beyond. Therefore, Styles and Horan bought homes in the area so they won't have to stay in hotels when they're in Los Angeles.
The Daily Star reports that Styles is close to buying a $3 million house in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, on the advice of his father, Des Styles. An unnamed source to,d the Daily Star: “Harry is very sensible and he wants to build on his already high profile in the U.S. Des is a highly successful businessman who owns three properties and his own pub so he has advised him to invest all his wealth in a big property portfolio.” Celebrity residents in the neighborhood include Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Kristen Stewart.
According to The Sun, Horan bought a house for $2.37 million (or £1.5million) in Calabasas, California. In the United States, the minimum legal age to drink alcohol is 21, so "builders refused to fit a bar for him because at 19 he’s under the age limit for boozing in the States."
An unnamed source told The Sun: “As well as the Kardashians, other residents include Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne and Jennifer Lopez. Niall wanted a permanent place in the States because One Direction will be spending a lot more time there this year and he didn’t want to stay in a string of hotels. He’s made friends already with his Kardashian neighbors and the younger Kardashian sisters love him and his Irish accent. They’re already talking about getting him on the family’s reality shows and they think he’s sure to say yes because he would find it funny.”
Styles has been buying up property ever since he became a millionaire. In 2012, he bought a $920,000 condo in east London, a four-bedroom house in north London for $4.8 million and a four-bedroom home for his mother near Holmes Chapel, England.
As previously reported, Horan bought a black Range Rover after passing the test to get his U.K. driver's license in January 2013. Styles also bought a black Range Rover as his first car after he got his driver's license in late 2011.
