Harry Reems dies, and the porn world lost a famed legend. According to the LA Times on March 20, Reems suffered from pancreatic cancer and died at a veteran's hospital in Salt Lake City on Tuesday. He was 65.
Reems reached huge levels of infamy when he starred in "Deep Throat" with Linda Lovelace, one of pornography's most famous films. He also became a celebrity thanks to the government trying to level federal obscenity charges against him for his performance in the movie.
Reems was a former Marine, who was honorably discharged, before he began working in the porn industry. He starred in well over 100 adult films. When it came to "Deep Throat," he was hired to work the lights but ended up filming one day of work for the movie and ended up arrested by the FBI and charged with conspiracy to distribute obscenity across state lines.
Harry Reems was convicted along with 11 other people and four corporations but the conviction was overturned one year later because the scene he filmed was before the Supreme Court ruled on obscenity in 1973. He received a new trial and then all charges were dropped.
After years of drug abuse, Reems became a Christian and married in 1990. He most recently took part in the documentary "Inside Deep Throat." Harold Reems dies at 65 and leaves behind his wife, Jeanne, and a brother.
