'Harry Potter' star Emma Watson says 'Twilight' is 'selling sex' --  Emma Watson, the actor of Harry Potter fame turned Brown University student, says the Harry Potter movies aren't "selling sex" like the Twilight films do. The star made the remark during a conference call over the weekend with media outlets promoting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1, which is due in theaters this fall.

MTV-UK reports the story from OK! Magazine and the New York Daily News.

The subject of the discussion wasn't really Twilight at all but rather the anticipated kiss between Ms. Watson's character, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley, played through what will be all 8 films in the Harry Potter franchise by Rupert Grint.

"This kiss between Hermione and Ron is highly anticipated, it's been building up for eight films now," Ms. Watson said. "And Harry Potter is not Twilight, you know. We're not selling sex." She elaborated on shooting the kissing scene, saying, "In fact, it was horribly awkward; we couldn't stop laughing."

Ms. Watson, 20, has said before that both Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter, as well as Rupert Grint are more like brother figures to her than romantic interests. Small wonder for the principle cast who have grown up together in front of the camera for the last decade.

Was Emma Watson really "dissing" Twilight? Those who have seen the actor interviewed on talk shows may surmise not and may guess she made the comment tongue-in-cheek in the ongoing, good-natured rivalry between the two fantasy series. Though she has a clean image, she is not above using a cuss word here or there and does not conduct herself as a prima donna.

Fans of the Twilight books and movies may disagree with the claim, since abstinence is practiced by the protagonist, Bella Swan, and her brooding vampire boyfriend, Edward Cullen.  Critics of the fantasy series say that by keeping the sexual tension high throughout the story, it keeps the question of the teenaged couple engaging in sexual activity, or not, front and center in the storyline despite its apparent promotion of abstinence until marriage.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 is expected in theaters on November 19, 2010.

Comment below:  What do you think about Emma Watson's comment? Does the Twilight series "sell sex," or was Ms. Watson just making a joke about the series?   Let us know your thoughts in the Comment Section!
