The book and movie series that captivated the imagination of children and adults alike continues to be exciting, especially with the opening of 'The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Diagon Alley' at Universal Studios. Those who want to capture the magic here in Albuquerque can have a Harry Potter celebration at the Albuquerque Main Library on July 30 at 11:00 am. Fans can participate in a birthday party for Harry Potter and his fellow wizard friend, Neville Longbottom. This birthday party is free and promises creativity, learning and fun.
Get into the spirit of Hogswarts by participating in recognizable activities from the 'Harry Potter' series. First you'll start by getting sorted into a Hogwarts house using the magical sorting hat. Participants will make a matching tie to accompany their Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slytherin houses using the house colors. It will be fun to take a picture on the 9 3/4 Platform in your new house tie. Afterward, you can continue to make crafts including an owl bookmark. You'll also get a chance to race your chocolate jumping frog against another chocolate jumping frog. The celebration is best enjoyed by little wizards ages 6-12 years old.
Harry Potter's and Neville Longbottom's birthday part will take place at the Main Library Children's Room. The Main Library is located in downtown Albuquerque at 501 Copper Avenue NW, 87102.
