'Harry Potter': Radcliffe, Watson support Warner Bros. buy of Leavesden Studios -- According to the BBC, Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson approve of American filmmaking company Warner Bros. buying Leavesden Studios in the UK. Leavesden is where all eight of the Harry Potter films were made, including the soon-to-be released Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. The two stars were asked about the sale at the London premiere of the latest film on Thursday.
The studio said that the recent purchase is like a tenant finally buying a home he has rented and loved for many years who now has the ability to fix it up the way he'd like.
Of the sale, Daniel Radcliffe, who spent 10 years growing up at Leavesden in the role of Harry Potter, lent his support to the buy. The sale will mean continued or increased employment in the area. He said, "We have an amazing resource in this country which is tens of thousands incredibly talented film technicians, film makers, writers and actors."
Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, said, "I had the time of my life making these films at Leavesden studios and it's so wonderful that it's still going to be around for years to come."
The buy comes in the wake of the Harry Potter films finishing production and thoughts that The Hobbit's two films, directed by Peter Jackson, may have been shot there if conflicts with the acting unions in New Zealand had not been worked out.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 will be released in the U.S. on November 19th.
