'Harry Potter': Emma Watson visits 'Regis and Kelly,' shows 'engagement' ring -- Harry Potter star Emma Watson appeared on Live with Regis and Kelly Tuesday morning after the premiere of the film in New York City the night before. While there, she showed co-host Regis Philbin her "engagement" ring, well, not really.
Emma Watson said coming to the show was like "coming home" because she has been doing it every year for so much of her life in promoting the Harry Potter movies. During the interview, Regis Philbin asked her if she has ever had a crush on Daniel Radcliffe or Rupert Grint. She said that he has asked her that every year.
Ms. Watson decided to play along this time, and switched a ring on her hand to her ring finger. Then she went along saying that she was in love and engaged to be married, and they were going to have ginger-haired children. When Kelly Ripa asked her to which actor, she said Rupert, of course (their characters, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, get together in the movies).
Emma Watson also talked about her college major -- history. Both Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa were impressed that, though she is at the height of an acting career as a young woman, she has made the decision to go to college.
Kelly Ripa asked about her haircut and if she cried when it was cut off. "I was so sick of my hair. I was so ready for a change, I was just, 'Do it'." She said she was "very calm."
"I absolutely love it. I love my professors. I love my classes. I love waking up at 10 a.m. I really love the American attitude to education. It's just much broader. I just wanted an adventure."
"Regis. Seriously, honestly, you have honestly asked me this question every time since I was 10 years old. Without fail," she said. "OK, fine. We're getting married. We're going to have little ginger-haired kids. And we're going to live in a beautiful house, and we're very in love. In fact, hang on; wait, this is my engagement ring." Then she moved her ring to her ring finger and showed it as her engagement ring. Asked which guy it is from, Radcliffe or Grint, she said, "This is from 'the Grint;' come on." "The Grint" is Regis Philbin's pet name for Rupert Grint.
Regis Philbin said earlier in the interview that her new haircut made Emma Watson look like a young Julie Andrews. Emma Watson appreciated the compliment.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 comes out November 19, 2010.
