Harry Potter has graduated from Hogwarts and the big screen; however there is a way to bring home a piece of his magic. Throughout the Harry Potter books and movies, we heard about the children and adults enjoying a warm mug of butterbeer.
Now you too can enjoy this warm drink that’s easy to prepare (and easily transformed into an adult warm beverage). As you sip this sweet buttery concoction, take a trip down memory to the village of Hogsmead. Harry Potter, along with Ron Weasly and Hermione Granger will be saving you a seat to reminisce.
Harry Potter’s Butterbeer
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup butterscotch topping
- 2 tablespoons whipped butter, room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups vanilla cream soda
Directions
- Combine condensed milk, butterscotch topping, and butter in a glass heatproof measuring cup. Heat in microwave for 1 minute. Remove and stir until butter has melted and incorporated into mixture.
- Meanwhile heat cream soda in another heatproof measuring cup for 1 minute 30 seconds.
- Divide butterscotch mixture between 2 (10 to 12-ounce) mugs and fill mugs with heated cream soda and stir thoroughly. Serve garnished with an old-fashioned butterscotch candy stick.
- Adults can spruce the recipe by adding some butterscotch schnapps.
All of these ingredients can be locally at your neighborhood Food Lion. With several locations in Raleigh, it should be a quick trip around the corner!
Butterbeer is not your typical hot beverage and your sweet tooth really needs to be active; however it is a fun and different recipe to try your kids or friends. Remember Harry Potter fondly as you enjoy your first homemade mug of butterbeer.
