“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” makes its network television debut on ABC FamilyChannel as part of their “Countdown to 25 Days of Christmas” programming in November. The network will also treat Potter fans to one of their popular “Harry Potter Weekend” events.
The final film in the world’s most popular fairy story ever premiered in the U.S. in July of 2011, and fans all over the country have been waiting for this network television debut. The “Harry Potter Weekend” is scheduled to begin on Thanksgiving Day. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” will air on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. Eastern time, with an encore presentation at 11 p.m. the same night.
In other news, Potter fans around the world were thrilled in September when they got the news that J.K. Rowling would write the screenplay for a Harry Potter spin-off film franchise based on the book “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” A couple of days ago, fans were disappointed when Warner Bros. President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production Greg Silverman announced that there is no deadline for the first movie script. This means that a speculated 2015 movie premiere is unlikely.
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is available as part of “The Hogwarts Library” boxed set available Oct. 29 in bookstores and at Amazon.com. The book is one of Harry Potter’s schoolbooks from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is a magical bestiary that describes many of the non-human fairies including unicorns, dragons, yetis, pixies, and more.
According to publisher Scholastic, Inc.: “We are proud to offer the first boxed set of the complete Hogwarts Library, including Quidditch Through the Ages, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and The Tales of Beedle the Bard. The books have been completely redesigned to form an elegant boxed set with colorful boards, headbands, footbands, and foil stamping.” The set is reasonably priced and will make a great holiday gift.
