Today, September 3, FOX not only announced that Jennifer Lopez will return to Season 13 of American Idol as a judge; but they also announced she and Keith Urban will be joined by the only new judge to the panel: Harry Connick, Jr.
News should come as no shock, as speculation has been growing surrounding the possibility that Connick, Jr. would join the show as a judge. After appearing as a mentor throughout multiple seasons on Idol, Connick, Jr. was always well-liked, aside from a brief spat he encountered with Randy Jackson during this past Season 12 over the version of a song he chose to use while mentoring one contestant. Season 13 should prove to be interesting, with Jackson returning to the show as a mentor for the first time, and not a judge.
Earlier today, Harry Connick, Jr. shared his excitement via Twitter:
so excited to be on @AmericanIdol!!! i've already judged my wife and daughters like three times this morning. do they sell gavels on amazon?
The judging panel is officially set, with returning judges Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez now joined by a new face in Harry Connick, Jr. What do you think of the new panel? Will you be watching Season 13 when it debuts in January? Leave a comment below!
