Harrison Ford confirmed for Star Wars; What about Luke, Leia and C-3PO?

The sci-fi community is convulsing with excitement again over Star Wars: Episode VII. Apparently rumors are abounding that Harrison Ford might reprise his role as Han Solo. Well, if you check the Episode VII IMDB page, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Anthony Daniels who played Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and C-3PO, respectively, are also rumored to return.

The rumors come from Latino Review, which says they have confirmed that Ford will reprise his role. While the details of whether or not this will be a cameo or central role are still unknown, it is known that Ford has a complex relationship with the Star Wars film franchise. In The Empire Stirkes Back, also known as Episode V, Han was frozen in carbonite and his fate for Episode VI was left up in the air. However the reason is because Ford was still undecided about whether or not he would return for Return of the Jedi and creator George Lucas needed a reason to explain a Han no show. As Star Wars fans know, Ford did return and thus a legend was cemented (pardon the pun) in history.

There is still no official word or whether Fisher, Hamill or Daniels will return but a fan can only hope. Maybe the confirmation of Ford, will spur similar deals with the original cast. There is certainly a story already in place to accomodate the appearances. On IMDB, Leia is listed as Leia Solo. In the Jedi Prince book series by Paul and Hollace Davids, Leia and Han married but the wedding was interrupted. The official wedding took place in The Courtship of Princess Leia by Dave Wolverton who heads up the Expanded Universe book series but it never made it to any of the Star Wars films.

Rumors have also been circulating that the story would focus on their adult children. It's a logical leap. In the Expanded Universe book series, Leia and Han have three children, twins Jacen and Jaina and a third child named Anakin for Leia's father Anakin Skywalker also known as Darth Vader. Anakin suffers an untimely death while Jacen turns to the dark side in the books.

It is unclear whether or not director J.J. Abrams will create his own story or will include elements from the Expanded Universe series. After all, he did create an alternate Star Trek universe. Anything is possible. However the entrance of Solo children would certainly justify an appearance by parents Han and Leia and a visit from uncle Luke (pun intended).

Be sure to come back for more details on the next chapter of the Star Wars saga.
