San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee will also be in attendance with Barnes.
“Today ping pong is becoming integrated into the fabric of everyday life for many of our youth and families in San Francisco," Mayor Lee told Asian Week back on July 26. "As we continue these Citywide Ping Pong Tournaments, we activate one of our City’s oldest and most dense neighborhoods – Chinatown – and showcase an active sport that is growing in popularity and a healthy option for residents.”
Barnes recently returned from a goodwill trip to China where he helped promote preseason games taking place there this fall along with a number of charitable activities.
The ping pong tournament is part of the two-day Chinatown Summer Celebration that begins with a music festival tomorrow. For more information go to www.c-c-c.org.
