Freewheelin’ First Fridays are moving to Harriet Brewing starting with the first Friday of 2013.
Jackson Buck, host of KFAI Radio’s Freewheelin’ show on Wednesday afternoons, had a long successful run at the 331 Club with Freewheelin’ First Fridays. The shows would host Americana artists like Mary Cutrufello and Randy Weeks.
Now, Buck moves his monthly showcase to Harriet Brewing. The first show will be an early show, beginning at 7 p. m. It will feature several talented Twin Cities Americana artists, Including Tom Feldmann, Dave Babb, Sneaky Pete Bauer, and Jack Klatt and the Cat Swingers. All these musicians are known for their upbeat, catchy tunes.
Always entertaining, Dave Babb is a founding member of The Front Porch Swingin’ Liquor Pigs. Joining Babb will be Sneaky Pete Bauer. Known for his unique appreciation for the blues-folk genre, Bauer will keep your feet stompin’ and your hands clapping between swigs of Harriet Brewing’s best.
Jack Klatt and the Cat Swingers have been entertaining audiences with some of the best finger-picking traditional folk music in the area.
Todd Ojala, blogger and booker for Merlin’s Rest Pub, told Minnesota Public Radio that "Klatt melds burlesque, blues and gypsy jazz in a way that inspires good vibes no matter what's being sung about."
Come early and see Tom Feldmann open the night. Feldmann has been developing his sound for quite a few years. His mastery of the guitar is apparent from his first few notes through the end of his set.
"Tom Feldmann is a master of his craft - whether old country blues and gospel tunes or original compositions. He has it all. Great and soulful guitar technique combined with a powerful voice. His music carries on the tradition and shines bright," guitarist Stefan Grossman.
Harriet Brewing is located at 3036 Minnehaha Avenue in Minneapolis. Music begins at 7 p. m. on Friday, January 4.
