A tea tasting featuring Harney teas is something to look forward on its own, but the Townsend Hotel has made it even more special by including Michael Harney, Vice President of the family company that bears his name. On Saturday March 29th, Birmingham's luxury hotel will present a tea tasting event hosted by Michael Harney of Harney and Sons tea company. Five different teas will be served including an Earl Grey, Namring Darjeeling and Cinnamon Spice.

Harney and Sons tea company started thirty years ago when John Harney, owner of the historic White Hart Inn in Salisbury, Connecticut, and Michael's father, developed an interest in tea which culminated into the creation of his own craft blends. Today, the company is a global operation, headquartered in Millerton, New York, and it sources, blends and packages its tea from start to finish. The tea product selection has grown from the original six teas to more than three hundred. Harney & Sons remains a family-owned company, managed by three generations of Harney's.

Michael Harney will bring the family history along with the five specialty teas to the Townsend Hotel on March 29th. Guests of the event will also enjoy light hors d’oeuvres. Cost of the event is $25.00 per person and reservations are required.
