Tonight's episode of "Hardcore Pawn," at Detroit's famous landmark, American Jewelry and Loan, the pawn shop never without some sort of conflict, irate people, sibling rivalry and family drama is titled “Meet the New Girl.”
As the episode begins, Karen joins the staff of the shop as the assistant manager of the jewelry department. Ashley is livid at her father’s decision, but she refused to sell stainless steel jewelry, so he found an alternative.
A man comes in with taxidermy items, one he called a Himalayan snipe, which was actually the rear end of a deer, made into a weird-looking animal. Seth finally buys it for $235.
In Les’ office, Karen tells him that she is feeling the vibes from Ashley, but Les is fine with it and wants her to start, regardless of how Ashley feels. After giving her the lowdown on the place, she is anxious to show them what she has.
Two young women want $300 for earrings they want to pawn. Ashley can only give them $30 for them, and when they start to get loud and disrespectful to her, Byron comes over to give them his famous escort out the door.
A man comes to meet with Seth outside. He has a 1974 hot-rod Camaro, and he is looking for $35,000. The highest Seth can go now is $12,000 because the winter is coming, and he has to store it in the warehouse. If he can come back in the spring, Seth could do better.
As Ashley is showing Karen her gold and silver jewelry and accessories, she then shows her a very small showcase that will be hers. Les told her she would have more selling area, but Ashley is not relinquishing any of her space.
As a man is looking at a camera, Seth showed him, he put it in his pocket. This is against the rules of the shop, unless he pays $90 for it. He wants to look around further, but then tells Seth he is calling him a thief. When Byron takes it out of his pocket, the man gets belligerent and calls the shop names. He then gets the escort out the door as he proclaims that he is still shopping.
A man from Holland came into the shop. His ATM card did not accept American money yet, and he needed some money to hold him over until the switch is made. He had a watch to pawn, but it needed a battery. Les had his guy put a battery in, but he said it could not be set. The man took the watch and set it, and got $100 for a pawn.
When two young guys came to Ashley’s counter, she showed them rings that were out of their price range. As she started to lose her patience with them, Karen, called them over to her counter. She sold them two rings for $25 each and made them and Les very happy, the only one not smiling was Ashley on this episode of "Hardcore Pawn."
