On tonight's episode of "Hardcore Pawn" at Detroit's infamous American Jewelry and Loan, the trap was set for the thief who is stealing jewelry at Jeff's station in the pawn shop. When Jeff arrived, the ring was missing that he used as a decoy. Ashley did not even know about the sting operation and was shocked. Les called his video guy to get the tape of the scene of the crime.
A woman came in ranting that she wanted her money back. She picked out a ring and put a down payment on the ring. Now, she wants her money back and continued to scream and curse in Ashley's face. The store is adorned with large no refund signs, but she loudly persisted. She could have store credit or make payments on the ring, but she continued to scream and carry on. She got an escort out of the shop as she continued to mouth off.
As they watched the tapes of the crime scene, it turned out to be Joe, a man who has been with them for three years and has been considered a part of the family. They checked several days, and sure enough, Joe was stealing frequently.
A man showed up in a vintage police car, a 1963 Chrysler New Yorker with a V-8 engine. The man wanted $8,500, as Les negotiated and would only give him $4,200, but the man had at least that much invested in the car. No deal.
A man with a complete, but older disc jockey set up wanted $3,000, but Seth was ready to let him walk away, until he accepted $850 for the equipment and made the deal.
Joe walked into the shop, and they wanted to choke him, but could not let him know that they were on to him. He is security, and there to protect them. When a man came in to have his glasses repaired that were purchased there. He gave Ashley too much grief, and her patience was not to be toyed with on this day, and he got a free escort out of the shop, from Joe.
When the detectives arrived, they went to the back room. Joe continued to work as head of security until they needed him there. Les called him into the back room, and Les demanded that the cameras and microphones were turned off. The detectives sent uniformed officers to put the handcuffs on Joe. He emptied his pockets and gave Les back almost $7,000 worth of jewelry. Les nearly had a heart attack when he saw all the jewelry. As Joe was driven off in the police car; they wondered if he was working with someone else in the shop on "Hardcore Pawn."
