On tonight's episode of "Hardcore Pawn" at Detroit's famous American Jewelry and Loan a shop that is never without conflict, Seth was removed from his position as boss, when Les objected to his rules.
As the episode begins, a woman comes in with a broken television. She claims she bought it there and has no receipt. She is demanding a new one. Byron took the television from Seth and walked it out the door. When he put it on the ground, she picked it up and smashed it. Have a nice day!
Bobby Jay came to tell Les that two guys were scammed out of their laptops and whoever did it is working with one of their employees. Les went out to talk to them. He found that a woman knew someone in the shop who worked there. She would them pawn them, get the money, and then go around the back of the shop and get them back again. Les is not sure it is a scam by a customer or an employee working with a customer. The woman was given the laptops, and she pawned them in her name. Now they cannot get their laptops because the law states that they are not in their names. Seth does not want any part of this, and Ashley is put on the case. They have been scammed before and Les refuses to let it happen again, or have another employee stealing from them. Now, Les trusts no one in the shop.
A man came in who just moved there from New Jersey. His wife sent him there to see what items he could get for the house. He saw a sofa that belonged to Les, who then gave it to Ashley. It was clearly in need of a cleaning, but the price was right. The man was giving Les a hard time and told him that he and his daughter were nasty. He had nerve disrespecting Les and his family in his shop and got a free escort out the door by his seven-foot 300-pound bodyguard Byron. Some fans believe it is doubtful he was really from New Jersey.
A man came in with quack medical devices to sell. The device gave a nasty electric shock and a shock to the seller, who only got $25 for it.
A gum-chewing woman came to the window to get her ring out. She claims they gave her $3,000 for it. Her name is not in the system, and she has no receipt. She got an escort out the door as she screamed that she wanted her ring. See ya!
Ashley and Rodney are in the back to make sure every laptop is there, and Seth is still not a believer.
A man comes to the parking lot with a 1981 Delorean automobile, like the one in “Back to the Future.” Les is in love with it. He will take $24,000 for it. The car smells bad inside and the best they will give him is $16,500. No deal.
After the inventory, Ashley finds all the laptops are accountable. Now the kids came back for their laptops again. They begged him to change the name on the ticket, but he could not do this. They were part of the scam, and it was scammed on them. Seth believes that they were scamming the shop the entire time and knows that nobody there would give stuff away through the back door. The mysterious woman promised them each, $100. Now they lost their laptops and never got any money. However, they learned a lesson from this episode of "Hardcore Pawn."
