Tonight's season premiere episode of "Hardcore Pawn," Detroit's famous American Jewelry and Loan, the pawn shop that is never without conflict, crazies and sibling rivalry was titled, “Seth’s Return.”
As the episode begins, Les calls Ashley into his office, after spotting Seth at Bill’s Pawn Shop, a local competitor. Les is very upset that his son would betray him and wonders if Seth plans to leave and work for his competition? Ashley tells him to confront his son today.
As Ashley and Bobby J go outside, they see a complete skeleton band waiting for them and a man who wants to sell them. The man wants half of what he paid for the characters, which is $1,400. Ashley offered him $300, but he could not take less than $1,000, so no deal was made for them.
When Seth returned, Les asked him where he was; and he replied that he was running errands. Les plans to get to the bottom of this in due time.
When a woman comes in looking for a massage chair, the price is $75. She tells Les that she will buy it for $20, and insists that he sell it to her for that price. Les disagrees and tells her that he cannot lose money on the chair. When Byron comes over to see why she is getting loud; she tells him that she does not want his Amazon ass over there. As Byron escorted her out of the shop, she removed her wig, as he admitted she looked like the singer Little Richard.
As Seth is acting like everything is normal, Ashley tells her father that if she does not talk to Seth, she will. A man brings his football throwing game to the shop to sell because he is getting married. Seth offers him $30, when he asked for $200, but he settled for the $30.
Les knows that before the day is over, there will be a sit down. A woman comes in with a ring that she wants to sell, but it is a silver ring with cubic zirconium stones. It is worth nothing to Les and will give her nothing for the ring. She swears she knows where she bought it, and it has real diamonds. Then she calls him an old man and tells him she will wait until he comes to his senses. He told her that he came to his senses, and that she should leave the shop. When Bryon came over to escort her outside, she started screaming and whacked him with her purse about five times. As she walked through the parking lot, she was still yelling.
A man came in with a Dick Tracy wrist radio, just like the one from the comic strip. He told Les that he put it on the internet and a man from Asia offered him $3,500 for it. Les told him that nobody would offer that much for it, and if he sent it off, he would probably get nothing at all for his trouble. Because it is sentimental to him, Les told him to keep it, as it was a memory of his late mother and his childhood. He was grateful for the information.
Finally, Les called Seth into his office with Ashley. When Les asked Seth where he was, he continued to be evasive. Les told him that he saw him at Bill’s. When Seth admitted that he was there, he told Les that he was consulting. He was actually telling him how to run his business in the 21st Century, with internet access and social media. Les was furious that Seth was giving away trade secrets, but Seth disagreed. Les gave his son the ultimatum; family or nothing. So Seth gave up his consulting business and is staying with the family; whether Ashley likes it or not, on this episode of "Hardcore Pawn."
