Last night's episode of "Hardcore Pawn," at Detroit's famous American Jewelry and Loan, the pawn shop that is never without some sort of conflict, irate people and sibling rivalry was titled, “Seth’s Gamble Part 2.” On the first part of this two-part episode, Seth bought $7,000 worth of sports memorabilia without consulting with his father. When Les found out, Seth had one week to sell the items and recoup the $7,000, or it would come out of his pocket.
As the episode begins, Seth is going over the sports memorabilia with Joe, who he gives a huge assignment to list each item with different prices. Today is the last day before Seth has to hand over the $7,000 less the amount he sells. So far he sold $2,500, and if by the end of the day, nothing else sells, he owes Les $4,500.
A man comes in with a zombie killing sword, a nice piece of art, and wants $250. Ashley dickers with the price, and since his wife will not let him back in the house with it, he settles for $60, her best offer.
When Seth comes back to see how Joe is doing, he sold a few more items, but nowhere nearly enough to recoup the loss. So Seth tells him to send out an email to all their card collectors to let them know what they have. Seth will be making phone calls while Joe shoots the emails.
When a man comes in with a compressor that blew after a few days, he tells them that it was sold to him with gas inside. They do not sell power tools with gasoline or oil inside. The man obviously put gasoline in, but the item needed oil, not gas. Now it is beyond repair, and he refused to admit he put gas in it.
A man comes in to see Ashley and Bobby J with a Despicable Me costume and wants more than it is worth, but Ashley buys it for $100, and he walks away happy.
A man drives up with a 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire convertible in beautiful condition. He wants $38,000. Les looks it up on the internet and finds that there are many for sale. When Les offers him $20,000, he just cannot do it. Sorry, no deal.
A woman comes in with a fur scarf and tells Ashley that she bought it as chinchilla, and it is rabbit. She finally walks out leaving it behind, after giving Ashley a load of verbal abuse.
A local dealer comes in to see Seth’s sports items. Seth wants $18,000; he wants to spend about $4,000. As they haggle with the price, and settle in the middle somewhere for $12,000, saving Seth from the wrath of Les, who brags that he gave Seth the incentive to make a profitable deal on this episode of "Hardcore Pawn."
