The mild weather Tampa Bay has been experiencing is a great contrast to the extreme conditions many of our friends and relatives are dealing with around the country. However, our mild, dry weather comes with a price that allergy sufferers know all too well: high pollen counts that can bring itchy, watery eyes, along with sinus congestion and sneezing.
Tampa Bay is in one of those periods right now and it probably will last through the weekend. Pollen.com's four day forecast predicts pollen levels in the dark yellow "medium-high" on Thursday with Friday and Saturday levels jumping into the bright red "high" zone. Juniper, Elm and Maple are the prime offenders. Through in the dusty conditions brought about by weeks without substantial rain and we've got a perfect recipe for hay fever.
Robert Garcia of the National Weather Service's Ruskin Office says in his short term weather discussion not to look for any rain in the next few days. "Surface high pressure builds in over the eastern united states providing for drier conditions across west central and southwest Florida to end this work week." The official forecast calls for lows in the 40s and highs in the 70s for the next few days.
