Article by Joe Sioufi - Hard bodies, don't we all love to have a hard body? oh well, this is not an article about fitness or muscles, it is about Domy Books’ newest exhibition, “Hard Bodies: Benjamin Marra, Nathan Fox, Zack Soto and Keenan Marshall Keller” is a cache of comic book art.
The four talented participating artists each have a distinct style, each artist is representative of the greater comic world. Artist Nathan Fox is probably the most notable of the group, and the most accessible, with his choice of colors, contrast and tonalities, he brings to mind Roy Lichtenstein on LSD. His wonderful drawings pull the viewer in, as in the contrast of pink against the strong yellow detail of a girl’s bedroom in "Bubble Gum Girl".
Who is Nathan Fox?
Nathan Fox was born in 1975 in Washington D.C. Raised from the age of five in the suburbs of Houston. He had an early addiction to Cartoons, Commercials and Video Games that did lead him to a lifelong exploration of Narrative Art and the over-stimulation associated with his generation. Nathan left Texas for Missouri with high hopes, following his dreams of making from his addiction a full time job. He attended the Kansas City Art Institute. The discovery of Anime, Yoshitoshi's Yukiyo-e Prints, Sideshows and Comics would lead him down the happily twisted path he still follows today.
