Valentine's Day is tomorrow, February 14, 2012, and what better way to celebrate the love holiday than with these cute heart shaped Valentine's Day conversation cakes!
According to the National Confectioners Association, Americans are expected to buy more than 58 million pounds of chocolate candy during Valentine's week. And more than 36 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolate will be sold. If that's not enough to sell you on Valentine's Day chocolates, consider that ongoing research supports the health benefits of chocolate, particularly the dark variety.
Instead of buying your heart-shaped chocolates, make chocolate Valentines cakes and save money! Make these Valentine heart cakes using a red velvet cake recipe, chocolate cake recipe, vanilla cake recipe, or your favorite cake mix. Mix and match buttercream frosting, cream cheese frosting, or chocolate frosting to the cake flavor.
Write your Happy Valentine's Day quotes or sayings on the top of the cakes. Think of something unique, or go with the traditional "BE MINE" and "TRUE LOVE" that you find on the Valentine's Conversation Candy Hearts.
If you don't feel like writing on the heart shaped Valentine cakes, decorate them with colored sprinkles, jimmies, sanding sugar, Valentine's candies like red-hots, conversation hearts, or Hershey's Chocolate Kisses.
