The New Year is here, and it’s time to put away the potato chips, the chocolate chip cookies, and the pumpkin pie. You feel as if you can conquer the world, because now, you have the fortitude. You have the mindset to melt away those extra 10 or 20 pounds that you picked up over the summer. Nothing will stand in your way; you are like a linebacker ready to sack the quarterback.
Let’s go! You got the black paint under your eyes, all you see is red. That treadmill ain’t got nothing on you. The elliptical—please, it’s a piece of cake. And that stair climber can just forget it! No way, you’re going to fail this time around. No way, you’re going back on your new year’s promise—to loose weight. Its game time, baby!
It’s here. The gym is only 20 feet away. You crash through the doors. Your confidence is up. You stare right at that treadmill—you can see that it’s trembling. Take that! You just finished up 30 minutes. What’s next? Oh yeah, that nasty ole elliptical. Let me at ’em! You can tell it’s waving the white flag. Bam! Another 30 more minutes conquered. Now, let’s get to that stair climber. You sense, it wants to run, but you’re not having any of that. “Come take your punishment like a machine,” you yell. It’s done. You did it. Finally, your New Year’s resolution is off to a good start, and it’s no turning back. Why? Because, it’s a new day, and it’s a new you.
