As we start this New Year let us continue working for justice and equality. Below are some of the scheduled events for January and February 2014. It looks like it will be lots "Savory Saturdays" ahead. "It's all good and for the greater good indeed." For the people, by the people and the enhancement of freedom and rights. Please come on our and support thee events, which subsequently support the New Hanover county NAACP.

Saturday, January 11, 2014 10:00am, Parents Council of New Hanover County NAACP, Mt. Olive AME Church, 7th and Wright Streets. For individuals concerned about our children and their education in New Hanover County.

Saturday, January 11, 2014, 11:00 am. Count Your Blessings- a Financial Literacy Workshop for our youth K-12. St. Stephen AME Church, 501 Red Cross Street. Call 910-762-9829 for registration.
Thursday, January 16, 2014, Monthly Meeting of New Hanover County NAACP, 7:00pm, St. Stephen AME, 501 Red Cross Street

Saturday, January 18, 2014 Martin Luther King Jr., Breakfast, UNCW Warwick Center, 9:00am, Ticket cost $25. Can be purchased online at, Wilmington Journal. Final headcount and ticket turn in January 12, 2014. Honored will be Mt. Olive AME Church and Judge James H. Faison, III. Speaker is Rev. Curtis Gatewood, NC NAACP HKONJ Coordinator.

Saturday, January 25, 2014. NC NAACP Winter Meeting. This is an excellent training opportunity. Branch will provide transportation for those desiring to travel together. Lunch is $10.
Saturday, February 8, 2014, HKONJ8, Moral March on Raleigh. Transportation available to Raleigh at cost of $20. Sponsorship available. Departure at 6:30 am. Lineup begins at 9:30am with the march beginning at 10:30. Scheduled to return early afternoon Saturday, February 1, 2013 11:00 am. Wilmington NAACP Youth Council Meeting, MLK Center.

Saturday, February 8, 2014 7:00pm, UNCW, Kenan Auditorium, Williston Community Choir with Wilmington Symphony Orchestra signing a "A Change Gonna Come" underwritten by New Hanover County NAACP.On
Saturday, February 22, 2014, 8-10am. Applebee Flapjack Fundraiser by Wilmington NAACP Youth Council.

Donation- $7. Applebee’s on New Center Drive
I realize that this is a lot of information but we have a lot of work to do. Committee Chairs are busy working and planning for 2014. I will list all committees in the next email. Hopefully you will want to work on one.
The Membership drive is still in progress. Membership is power, so don’t forget to register ASAP!
