Happy New Year, Union County!

Are you ready for the new year? What are your new years resolutions? Many people across the globe make new years resolutions each Dec.31 or Jan.1, but very few stick to their goals. Don't let yourself be part of the crowd of people that fell short of their goals!

How can you make sure that you stay on top of your goals this year? One sure way to hold yourself accountable for the goals you set in place is to write them down and look at the paper often. When you place your goal in writing, it is more likely to "haunt" you if you are not taking action on it. Out of sight-out of mind? Exactly. If you don't place the paper within an area that you will see often, you will likely forget about it. However, if every morning that sheet of paper is staring you back in the face, chances are you will feel guilty for not taking action. You will feel obliged to take action on your goals if you are faced with a constant reminder every day. Around 8% of people stick to their new years resolutions. See to it that you are in that 8% of people!

In a popular book entitled, "Life Makeovers" (2000) by Cheryl Richardson, the author and personal life coach explains that every person should commit to five ultimate goals for the year. She calls this her "Absolute Yes List". Simply put, if the goals you are attempting to work toward are not on that list, you should forget them momentarily and focus on your primary five goals. The reasoning behind this is that we can easily get distracted and lose our focus on what is really important to us. However, if you commit to those items on your list, other things will not take away your time, energy and effort.

Let 2013 be the year that you make the changes you have always wanted to make. Don't let negative people stand in the way of your happier and more successful life. Make goals, and be accountable for them...and take action...What are you waiting for? Start today!
