Christmas time is here and with six days left you either already have that special gift for that amazing significant other in your life, or you are preparing yourself for that massive last minute scramble to get that special someone something special.
This time of year can be a stressful one for relationships, whether you are in a fresh off the press new romantic relationship, or have been together for years, you may find yourself racking your brain over gift ideas. Maybe you have already found that special gift, if you have that is awesome. You are prepared and ahead of the game. If not lets discuss possible gift ideas that will make that special person say “WOW” when finally revealed.
Now before you run to the store to buy, buy, buy, remember there are a few factors you must think about before deciding what to get your sweetheart for that Christmas surprise. You may want to factor in your budget and how much exactly you want to spend on a gift. Also, think about the length of time that the two of you have been together. If your still thinking of yourselves as a “new” relationship, you may not want to rush into the expensive gifts as of yet, it could send mixed messages, or a message that you are not ready to portray as of yet. If you have been together a for a while, basically meaning longer than 6 months, then you are inclined to put thought and care into your holiday gift giving.
Sure every kiss may begin with Kay, but what if your holiday sweetie doesn’t like jewelry, then she won’t be overly impressed by that heart shaped pendant. The art to gift giving is truly knowing the person who will be receiving that gift. It is probably one of the biggest tests in a relationship. Even if the words are never spoken directly about what the other person may want, if you have utilized the skills of communicating and listening then you have a pretty good idea about what gift will bring out the smile.
For newer relationships try to go with “safe gifts” (make sure they are needed). Safe gifts may include gift certificates for a surf or stand up paddleboard lesson, or snorkeling excursion. Also may include a watch, camera, or handbag.
For those longer relationships, you may have started out with safe gifts in the past but now are ready to move to something a little bit more intimate. These gifts include jewelry (the nice kind, ummm diamonds), more expensive cameras, computers, clothing that you know they will love.
Gifts can be fun yet stressful to buy. Try not to stress yourself this holiday season. Have fun! Share love. Whatever you decide to get your significant other I’m sure they will love it. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
