Happy Heart Day!: How to enjoy Valentine's Day as a single woman

Valentine's Day....a day of gifts, flowers, candy, cards that say things that aren't said often, and sweet gestures that are often non existent throughout the year. It's a day that wives and girlfriends love and use for bragging rights), and a day that many single women despise. But it doesn't have to be this way. Just because you're alone does not mean you have to be unhappy on this day of celebrating love. This is a better day than ever to show yourself some appreciation! You don't have to miss out on Valentine's Day festivities just because you're flying solo, and here are a few good ways to enjoy the day:

Have a spa day. Nothing relaxes you more than a day of serenity at a spa. Spoil yourself with a nice massage,mani/pedi,and facial. The effects of that trip will last longer than a day. You'll feel better and relieve some stress.

Treat yourself to a fun night out. You're not alone in being solo on this day. Call up some of your friends or coworkers and go to a nice dinner. Who says you can't enjoy a delicious meal and good company? Plan a night out on the town with friends to enjoy good music and drinks. Do something that will keep you feeling good and upbeat.

Last but not least, visit hospitals or local retirement homes. Keep yourself productive and in the Valentine's Day spirit by making vday cards and gift bags for the local children's hospital, or by baking cookies for the retirement homes. Entertain them with fun holiday influenced games and songs. Do something to put a smile on someone else's face, and it will definitely keep a smile on yours!
