On May 5th, people around the world will take part in an annual celebration that honors Mexican culture, tradition and heritage, Cinco de Mayo. Colorful parades, festive festivals, traditional dancing, Mariachi bands and fabulous food and drink are all part of the celebration!

Cinco de Mayo History

Cinco de Mayo, which means the 5th of May, actually commemorates the Mexican’s military victory over France at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Despite the fact the Mexican Army was outnumbered by the French, 4,000 Mexican soldiers versus 8,000 French, Mexico won the battle.
