Today the Bulgarian students – former and present celebrate this day. As a tradition, the 8th of December is most popular day in Bulgaria, as popular as Christmas and New Year. The students usually organize parties, although this year is historical for all – there has been the occupation protest of the Bulgarian students attempting to make the current political corrupted power to resign.
In Bulgaria it is difficult to organize protest for democracy as since 1944 it is almost an extension of Soviet Union followed by post-communist corrupted Russia. Many Bulgarians prefer dictatorship-like system that creates a context for corruption of power, respectively gaining status through corrupted political power and not thanks to abilities. This is the essence of the communist regime and its transformed forms which have only formal differences.
Student life is a life of people who develop as strong personalities. It is the European Union and the world which will decide whether the corruption in Bulgaria should continue (including psychotronic terrorism), or Bulgaria will finally embrace the democracy, as still minority in Bulgaria want. As it is known, millions of Bulgarians emigrated after 1989 and they support financially their kin. Without such help, Bulgarian nation in the country would not survive. However, these millions of Bulgarians cannot have a serious political impact on the life in the country; they can be only an example of development of immigrants as a paradox of culture – living the country not because a natural disaster but because political and moral disaster. Such new type of mass immigration is unique since Bulgaria has all complex context to be Switzerland in the Balkans – independent, strong and with high culture. However, the wild eye of Russia and its long imperialistic hands over the country make Bulgaria a sad dark picture on the map of Europe as a country in a total political, economic and moral crisis – one of the poorest in the world.
Bulgarian students in Bulgaria have the sun of globalizing world and the future of global society as a non-invertible process. They are the cells which may bring fresh air for democracy, although because of the inherited mechanism of reproduction, many have been already participating in the corrupted reproduction of the past, in the rejected by history system of deculturation and dehumanization of this most wonderful nation.
To all Bulgarian students who believe in democracy and who have been committed to humanity – happy 8th December - the day when we all celebrate the value of being part of the academic culture!
