Celebrating his birthday on October 14, Usher is known in the entertainment industry for his "walk your talk" attitude about living a healthy, happy life. And part of that philosophy involves his vegan diet.
"Usher frequents a few vegan restaurants in New York City and not only loves the food, but feels like it’s the healthiest way to live," a source told Radar Online recently.
And Ecorazzi reports that "Usher has apparently focused more on healthy living since his father died of a heart attack in 2008," which motivated the hip-hop star to follow Bill Clinton and Rosie O'Donnell's examples. Both of whom shifted to plant-based diets after having heart attacks: Read about Rosie's shift by clicking here.
Usher wanted Justin Bieber to go on a vegan diet, too. But alas, the Bieb boy star declined, spitting out his tofu in disgust: Learn more by clicking here.
As for fitness, Usher told Men's Health his secrets, including dealing with that no pain, no gain from fitness.
"Watch your breathing," says Usher. "When it's burning, you can't give up. You don't pay attention to pain. Just breathe through it."
Usher does yoga-type moves, strength-training, Pilates and dance moves as well as boxing and break-dancing. And those famous abs? Eating clean is the key, just as Carrie Underwood (who also follows a plant-based diet and does yoga) says: Read about it by clicking here.
"If you eat clean, you get better results," Usher advises. "Seventy percent of ab work is what you eat."
