Earthquake…hurricane…with everything that has happened in the past week, New Yorkers have really seen it all. Following the steps of this past seemingly record-breaking week, Jack Daniel’s is going to jump on the bandwagon this Thursday at South Street Seaport and break a few Guinness Records themselves.
In true New York style, it isn’t a birthday without good drinks and a great party. September 1 marks the 161st birthday of Mr. Jack Daniel, and the Jack Daniel Distillery will be honoring their founder with a spot in history. A large plan of attack will unfold as they try to beat seven different world records from 12-2 pm. Jack Daniel’s fans are invited to South Street Seaport to watch history be made, hosted by Master Taster Jeff Norman. Records up for breaking include Most Contributions to a Greeting Card (both on Facebook and on the giant birthday card at the party), Largest Glass Bottle Mosaic (a portrait of bottles to be created of Jack Daniel), Largest Bottle of Whiskey (one made with 180 liters of JD Tennessee Whiskey), Largest Gathering of People Born in the Same Month (for all those September babies), Most Bottles Played (a very special Happy Birthday played on more than 470 tuned JD bottles), Most People Blowing Out Candles Simultaneously (they will have 250 lit) and the Fastest Time to Build a 20 Shot Glass Pyramid. This event is free and open to the public for watching amusement and participation. Official Adjudicator Kimberly Patrick from Guinness World Records will be on hand to validate and award.
Will Jack Daniel’s meet their lofty goals? One thing’s for sure – it’s sure to be a great birthday party honoring an time-honored spirit! Cheers!
