Today the ATC or the Appalachian Trail Conservancy is 86 years old! Announced on their official facebook page as well as on the ATC website. If you are hiking the trail and are near Harpers Ferry, Virginia you are in the back yard of the ATC, why not stop in and say hello. In celebration of the 86th birthday of the ATC they are offering a one day only discount of 25.00 off your ATC membership.
This is a nice bargain and a great way to take part in the beautification and continued maintenance and protection of the trail you love, the Appalachian Trail. Members of the ATC will donated the fees they give to join to the ATC to be used to preserve and maintain the trail for centuries to come. After you have hiked this trail you will feel a sense of ownership.
That is because it is literally up to us all to make sure the trail is taken care of. It’s the hikers that trash the trail so it should be the hikers that maintain the trail. Unfortunately a lot of people do not care enough about America’s wilderness and the trails to keep it clean and maintained. You can be different by joining the ATC.
What better way of taking part in this historic event, one that will never come around again, than by joining the club. According to the ATC, when you join the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, you become a member of the distinguished group of people dedicated to preserving and protecting the Appalachian Trail.

You get the ATC membership patch or decal, it would be cool to choose the patch and have it sewn onto your trail pack, and then when you go to hike the trail again all the hikers will see that you are a member of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.
