She taught Aretha Franklin to do "The Robot" dance, showed off her dance moves on "Soul Train," had a successful run with the group Shalmar and went on to be a solo act, winning a Grammy Award. Happy 55th Birthday Jody Watley. She was born on January 30 in Chicago.

During Shalamar days she shared the spotlight with Jeffery Daniels and Howard Hewett. They provided lasting contributings to the music industry with hits like "The Second Time Around" "This Ring" and "Friends."

On her own, Watley scored big with hits like "Looking For A New Love," Don't You Want Me," "Real Love," and "Everything."
